I picked the article “street Art” by
which
talks about street art and the important of it. The theme of the article is
street art and how can it be use in education especially art education and also
like teach it in schools. The work of art that is included is a slab of wall
that was removed from a storefront in Haringey, London. It was made by Banksy
and it started its career. His work targets young adults since it has to do a
lot with political issues like the conflict between Israel and Palestine,
police and military in a variety of compromising positions, and images of labor
like a child constructing or working. I think that one of the meaning of the
article is the appreciation of this from of art which is street art and that some
people might see it as wrong since its done on buildings but the work can
really have a lot of meaning and can really be translating a message. Also its
another from of contemporary art and its a different and great thing to teach
in art classes as art educators since its not really taught in schools. The
article is really well written and it really explains clearly the story of
Banksy and how his street art became known and it also gives a good point in
how street art in art classes or as educators it will be a good topic for
discussion and how we can learn from street art. I would of like to maybe read
more about street art and maybe other artist that are involve in street art and
how did they become known since its something that people do not really know
who did it. In my classroom in the future I will like to teach about street art
is something that interests me but I was never expose to it or taught about it.
Also contemporary art is made in so many different forms and places and street
art is falls under that category so I think is an important subject to teach
students. The article was really good and I really enjoyed reading it.
